MISSION 01
MISSION BRIEFING
INTELLIGENCE REPORT
You're learning how to use generative the AI tools more effectively for school, work, and creative problem-solving. But here's the intel nobody tells you:
AI output depends heavily on the quality of your instructions. A lazy prompt gets a lazy result. An engineered prompt gets an expert-level result.
⚠ STUDENT'S FIRST PROMPT (TYPICAL)
Write me an essay.
✓ THE SAME STUDENT — AFTER TODAY
Act as an expert writing coach. I'm a 10th grader writing a persuasive essay arguing social media harms teen mental health. Write a 100-word introduction with a shocking statistic, a hook question, and a clear thesis statement. Use an academic but engaging tone.
Which one gets you a better result? Today you'll learn the difference — and practice until it clicks.
CLASSIFIED: THE CRAFT FRAMEWORK
Every strong prompt has five ingredients. Remember CRAFT:
C
CONTEXT — Background info. Who are you? What's the situation? What class/grade?
R
ROLE — Tell the AI who to BE. "Act as a [type of expert]..."
A
ACTION — The specific task. What exactly should it DO? Be precise.
F
FORMAT — How should the output look? Bullet list? Essay? 200 words? Numbered steps?
T
TONE — What's the vibe? Formal? Friendly? Simple? Expert-level? Encouraging?
THE RESTAURANT ANALOGY
"Make me something" gets you whatever the chef feels like. But "I'd like the veggie burger, no onions, toasted whole-wheat bun, medium spice, fries on the side" — that gets exactly what you want. Prompting generative AI works the same way.

Writing a persuasive essay intro
⚠ WEAK PROMPT
Write me an essay about social media.
✗ Role✗ Context✗ Format✗ Tone✓ Action (vague)
WHAT THE AI GIVES YOU:
Social media is a big part of life today. Many people use it every day. There are good things and bad things about social media. Some people think it is good. Others think it is bad. This essay will talk about social media and its effects.
— Vague and uncommitted. the AI had nothing to work with.
✓ ENGINEERED PROMPT
Act as an expert writing coach. I'm a 10th grade student writing a persuasive essay arguing social media harms teen mental health. Write a compelling 100-word introduction that opens with a shocking statistic, a hook question, and ends with a clear thesis. Use a formal-but-engaging academic tone.
✓ Role✓ Context✓ Action✓ Format✓ Tone
WHAT THE AI GIVES YOU:
Did you know that teens who spend more than three hours daily on social media are twice as likely to experience depression and anxiety? In an age where the average teenager scrolls for over six hours a day, this statistic is not merely alarming — it's a crisis in plain sight. As platforms compete for every second of attention, the mental health of a generation hangs in the balance. Social media, despite its promises of connection, is systematically undermining the psychological well-being of today's youth.
MISSION 04
AI ANALYSIS STATION
PROMPT PRACTICE TASK
You are going to write a prompt that asks AI to create a paragraph for your science class.
Assignment: Write a prompt asking AI to create one clear paragraph that explains why the Moon appears to change shape during the month.
Your prompt should tell the AI that you are a 9th grade science student, ask it to act as a helpful science teacher, request one brief paragraph, and use clear language that is easy for a high school student to understand.
When your prompt is ready, click ANALYZE. The system will score your prompt using CRAFT and show you how to improve it.
WHAT YOU ARE WRITING A PROMPT ABOUT
Science topic: Why does the Moon look like it changes shape during the month?

THE ESSAY BOSS
Mission: Craft a prompt for a persuasive paragraph
📋 YOUR MISSION
You have a persuasive essay due tomorrow for English class. The topic is: "Should school start later in the morning?" You need AI to help you write a strong first body paragraph — not the whole essay, just the first main argument supporting later start times.
Specify your grade level and that this is for English class
Tell the AI to act as a writing expert
Request the FIRST BODY PARAGRAPH only
State your position (you support later start times)
Include a format requirement (e.g., word count, include a transition sentence)
Set an academic, persuasive tone
